I’ve made a lot of it. I’ve thrown hundreds of pieces straight in the bin after painting for hours, but I’ve also kept lots which is ‘OK’ at the time only to look back at it and laugh.
Branching out and trying something new is essential to progress though.
And even if I'm struggling with it a new concept to start with, I realise how important it is to try things out, and ultimately, fail. Even if a piece ends up being awful and it does go in the bin, it will have been progress. I hate the thought of creating the same piece over and over. Like artistic purgatory - hellish.
So I try not to get mad about making bad art. Every bad piece I make is one step closer to something brilliant.
